In Memoriam

Since the start of the Hydro~Geo Workshop we have lost several dedicated volunteers. We do not forget them, their contributions, or their stories.

Dr. Joe Yelderman

July 10, 1950 — August 9, 2026

For 43 years, Joe served as a professor of geology at Baylor University, specializing in hydrogeology. He was a gifted educator and mentor who inspired generations of students through his passion for teaching, scientific excellence, and environmental stewardship. He retired this year on May 31st after more than four decades of dedicated service.

Garry White

Passed away on May 10, 2025

Garry was an avid caver, hiker, and Bexar Grotto volunteer, as well as a volunteer and supporter of the Hydro~Geo Workshop. He is missed very much!

Ross Anthony Webb

January 16, 2009 – November 9, 2024

“Little” Ross was a cherished member of our Grotto who was always ready for adventure. His presence brought joy to everyone around him with an incredible sense of humor and a love for bad puns. Ross had a heart of gold and was an avid and dependable volunteer at events like the Hydro~Geo Workshop.

We all love and miss Ross dearly and are committed to honoring him and his family.

Tom Rogers

January 16, 2009 – November 9, 2024

Tom, or “TFR” was an avid Bexar Grotto caver since 2009, was a dedicated caver for years even before he joined the Grotto. Tom was notoriously known for caving in shorts, and his nickname of TFR (Tom ‘F*ckin’ Rogers) was bestowed on him by Tom Florer to differentiate him. Tom loved his nickname so much that he had TFR t-shirts printed up! He was a gifted, fearless, popular caver and a loyal friend to many, and could be counted on for all cave adventures, to support fellow cavers and was always ready to volunteer for all caving events as well as the Hydro~Geo Workshop. We lost Tom in 2022 to an unexpected, rapid illness.
